What is EMDR Certification?

EMDR Certification is an advanced level of training and experience beyond that of EMDR Basic Training. EMDR Certification is a specialty credential, overseen by the EMDR International Association (EMDRIA) for those in the USA and Canada. This level of advanced skill requires experience and training beyond that which you complete in EMDR Basic Training.

EMDRIA requirements (simplified):

• be a licensed mental health professional

• have completed an EMDRIA approved EMDR Basic Training

• complete 20 hours of consultation post EMDR Basic Training

• conduct at least 50 EMDR sessions with at least 25 clients

• obtain two letters of recommendation from peers or colleagues

• obtain letters of recommendation from any EMDR consultants you use along the way

• complete 12 hours of EMDRIA approved credits post basic training

EMDR Basic Training with an EMDRIA approved trainer provider must be completed prior to embarking on your EMDR Certification journey.

What is the benefit of getting Certified?

Getting Certified in EMDR is a testament to a clinician’s level of expertise and advanced skillset as it pertains to their EMDR practice. To become EMDR Certified means you have completed additional hours of training and consultation, and that you have integrity and considerable skill as an EMDR therapist. For those working in private practice, EMDR Certification speaks to your level of qualifications and competency. For those working in agencies, EMDR Certification identifies you as a lead and advanced practitioner amongst colleagues and leadership.

How long does the process take?

There is no time frame within which you are required to complete certification. You can pace the process out in a way that fits your needs.

Our program offers flexibility to work with your schedule and budget. It typically takes about 1 year to complete Certification requirements and training. Rachel will work with you after registration to create a plan that fits your needs an schedule. 

What is the cost of the EMDR Certification Course?

Rachel is a Consultant-in-Training (CIT), she is EMDR Certified clinician working towards becoming an EMDR Consultant. She is undergoing a process of refining her consultation skills under the supervision of and EMDR Consultant. Rachel is presently under the supervision of Notice That co-host Jen Savage, from Beyond Healing Institute.

Rachel’s fees for consultation as a CIT come at a discounted rate: for individual consultation the rate is $80/hour or $120 for 90 minutes; Group rate (max of 4 people) is $60/person/hour.

Note: As a CIT, Rachel can provide up to 15 hours of your 20 hours of required consultation for EMDR Certification. These can be done individually or in a group format. However, EMDRIA limits the amount of group hours to 10 hours. The 5 remaining hours will be provided by Lead Consultant from Beyond Healing Institute.

Additional Costs with Beyond Healing Institute:

EMDR Supplement Companion Course: $250 (pay now) or $350 (broken down into monthly payments). This is a self-paced course offering from Beyond Healing Institute, one that we will utilize and reference throughout our work together. It is a great supplement to the process of certification and fulfills the requirements of 12 EMDRIA approved credits. This course is designed to go back to the basics of EMDR while deepening the learning and understanding needed to become an EMDR Certified clinician. Additional 5 hours with Lead Consultant at Beyond Healing Institute, rates are $125/hour.
